House on the Cliff
This property was the most complicated and expensive project undertaken by Cedar Construction SW Ltd to date. Built through the Covid period and completed in 2021. It was awarded South West region winner by the LABC in the category best individual new home 2021
Complicated design both technically and logistically due to its location. After a successful interview with the client, we were involved at the pre contract stage through to completion. Beginning with the demolition of the existing building and the requirement of mass concrete foundations to support the adjacent road structure and neighbouring properties. Once out of the ground the structure comprised of mass blockwork walls to first floor and a cast reinforced in-situ first floor. The first-floor structure comprised of a steel frame tied with 6" blocks to compensate for the uplift wind loading on the mono pitch roof. A glulam beam construction was then inserted to form the upper roof structure. Careful setting out and consistent monitoring were carried out to ensure pre-fabricated elements fitted correctly within the as-built structure. Accommodation consisted of 1st floor living area, kitchen, 4 bedrooms, 4 ensuite bathrooms, games room, cinema room.
We co-ordinated and worked with various specialist sub-contractors these included:
Zinc roofing and cladding
Glazing and windows - IQ glass London
Omnie ventilation heat recovery and underfloor heating.
Home automation and lighting
